1.Naturotics¢â?
Natural and Safe effective Preservative
Natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal compound
Natural anti-oxidant complex and Effective humectant
2. Synthetic Preservatives
& Naturotics¢â
Consumers who check labels often see parabens and other
preservatives listed on a wide range of cosmetics and
personal care products. As you know, Parabens and Isothiazolinone
and its derivatives are chemicals used in cosmetics
extensively and have bad effect on health hazardously.
However, most people don¡¯t realize that the hundreds
of chemicals apply to their body every day; whether
in the form of shampoo, conditioner, hand cream, face
cream, shaving cream, makeup, and so on.
Nowadays people are trying to stay away from everything
synthetic, including preservatives, as much as possible.
This is due to increasing complications arising from
the use of synthetic ingredients as carcinogenicity,
teratogenicity, liver, kidney, heart, respiratory or
nervous system problems.
Now, our unique knowledge of natural compound chemistry
has resulted in Naturotics¢â. Naturotics¢â, a natural
preservative, has been proved to be very effective against
tested microorganisms at a concentration as low 2%.
Also, Naturotics¢â provides formulators of personal care
products with any synthetic preservatives free solution
which is supported by toxicology studies.

4. EXPERIMENTAL DATA

(1) Challenge test
The results clearly demonstrated that Naturotics¢â at
2.0% concentration reduced the microbial inoculums satisfying
the E.P. in the skin toner and lotion formulation. Naturotics¢â
showed the ability to inhibit a variety of organisms
including pathogenic organisms that may be introduced
into the products.

its preservative activity in two product types (skin toner
and lotion). Lotion C, control in lotion; Lotion N, Naturotics¢â
in lotion; Toner C, control in toner; Toner N, Naturotics¢â
in toner. |
(2) Anti-oxidant Activity
Everyday life, cell metabolism, exposure to sun and
other environmental factors, toxins, cigarette smoke
- all result in production of free radicals. The free
radicals cause a dangerous chain reaction that destroys
cellular compounds and can damage DNA, proteins and
lipids (fats). When it comes to skin aging, free radicals
interfere with collagen production and cause premature
aging.

Fig. 3. Free radical scavenging
activity A rapid, simple and inexpensive method
to measure antioxidant capacity of Material involves
the use of the free radical, 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl
(DPPH).
Fig. 4. Superoxide anion scavenging
activity The Superoxide anion scavenging activity
was determined by a colormetric method (SOD assay kit;
Dojindo Laboratories, Japan).

(3) Moisturizing Activity
Naturotics¢â assists the process
of desquamation of the outer layer of stratum corneum
and reduces scaling. Significantly greater reductions
in both degrees of scaling and corneocyte counts were
seen in subjects treated with the formula containing Naturotics?
¢º Scaling (Corneocyte) Measurement
(Tape Stripping Method)
Naturotics¢â and a control product were applied on the
forearms of volunteers twice/day for 7 consecutive days.
Skin surface was analyzed by tape stripping method using
a Corneofix¢ç (Courage-Khazaka Electronic GmbH, Germany).

Fig. 5. Image taken with the special
foil CORNEOFIX¢ç F20. The different thickness
of the corneocytes is shown in 5 different colors.

¢º Hydration Measurement
Naturotics¢â and a control product were applied on the
forearms of volunteers twice/day for 7 consecutive days.
One area remained untreated. The water retention capacity
of the skin was determined by measuring skin hydration
using a corneometer (Courage-Khazaka Electronic GmbH,
Germany).
Fig. 6. Skin hydration measured
by corneometry. After the application was ceased,
areas treated with the Control showed a rapid decrease
in hydration. In contrast, Naturotics¢â
showed a significantly longer lasting hydration, up
to 6 days after the last application (day 13) of 2 Naturotics¢â.
5. Safety & Toxicity
(1) Clinical safety Evaluation
(Dermapro skin testing center)
Naturotics¢â showed no significant
evidence of primary irritation on human skin.
(2) Acute Oral Toxicity
The acute oral toxicity of a Natural Cosmetic containing
3% Naturotics¢â was evaluated in rats. Twenty animals
were fed 5,000mg/kg of the test substance. Neither mortality
nor other abnormalities were observed.
6. Commercial Value
(1) The Press Release (November
3, 2005 [Consumer Safety Center] )
A. Antiseptic substance and bacteria found in non-antiseptic
natural cosmetic products
Recently, the Korea Consumer Protection Board (KCPB)
tested the contamination status of microorganism and
the containment level of antiseptic substances in 10
types of natural cosmetic products sold in Internet
shopping malls. Among them, 7 were found to contain
antiseptics and 1 product contained bacteria. KCPB also
tested the contamination level of microorganisms in
60 types of general cosmetic products.
B. Antiseptic substance detected in 70% of natural
cosmetic products advertised as containing no antiseptics
All 10 natural cosmetic products were advertised as
¡®non-antiseptic¡¯, ¡®artificial paraben or synthetic chemicals
not used¡¯ or ¡®100% natural ingredients¡¯. But antiseptic
substances such as methyl paraben and phenoxy ethanol
were found in 7 of the products.

According to the press release by the Korea Consumer
Protection Board (KCPB), antiseptics material didn¡¯t
detect in natural cosmetic products with Naturotics¢â
and Naturotics¢â would
be a safe effective preservative in cosmetics, which
has value as a preservative in all kinds of skin,
body and hair care products. We are now providing
all our finished products used Naturotics¢â
as a preservative for customers in internet shopping
mall. (www.skincure.co.kr) and they are guaranteed
for at least 2 years at room temperature.
7. PRACTICAL HINTS
(1) Recommended Use Level
We are confident in recommending Naturotics¢â
as an effective preservative for a wide range of
product types, from skin care to shampoos and from
creams to gels etc.
Usage levels may vary from 1% to 3%, depending on
the formulation, the typical usage level averages
around 2%.
* You should test before use as a preservative to
replace any commercial synthetic preservatives in
any finished products. (2)
How to Get the Most of Naturotics¢â
Do not add Naturotics¢â to the formulation at temperature
above 55¡É where there is a heating stage. It is
recommended to add after the cooling process.
If possible avoid UV or strong light.
